I do not consider myself to be political, so I’m trying to understand what problem Voight is having with socialism. Yes, socialism isn’t capitalism … that much I know. According to Merriam Webster, however, one of the most important core values of capitalism is also at the core of socialism – inequality. Isn’t that what America thrives on? Isn’t one-upping each other and gaining status the heartbeat of this country? Isn’t the fear of losing status what compels us to keep food and shelter from the poor?
Whoa! I was completely unaware that Voight had become a wingnut. He wasn’t always, was he? I never followed his career that closely, but I guess I expect this sort of thing more from Chuck Norris than from him.
