Private Lavena Jackson died in Iraq on July 19, 2005.
Lavena Jackson had a bullet hole in her head, but her hands showed no evidence of firing the rifle that killed her. The wound was on the left side of her head, and Jackson was right handed.
There were abrasions over her body.
She had loose teeth and a broken nose.
There were acid burns on her genitals.
There is also evidence that someone tried to burn her body.
It seems likely Jackson was a victim of sexual assault, and was murdered to cover the crime. Army investigators have ruled her death a suicide. Her parents have asked for an investigation and the Army responded that the case is closed.
