Effigy of Obama alarms George Fox campus.
Don’t read the comments if you want to keep your breakfast down.
ETA: more here.
A George Fox University employee discovered the life-size cutout of the Democratic presidential candidate hanging from a campus tree with a fishing line around its neck. Posted on the cardboard effigy was a sign that read “Act Six Reject.” Act Six is a program that promotes campus diversity and urban leadership. It annually awards full scholarships to up to 10 students most of whom — but not all — are minorities.
Here are the two things in the article that bother me the most – aside from the actual act.
First: “At George Fox, Baker said he didn’t know how to interpret the political connection to Obama. “We just thought it was a student making a comment about our efforts to recruit.””
Really? You didn’t know, President Baker? You actually didn’t how to interpret this politically? Are you new?? I expect your resignation on my desk in the morning.
Second: “Katlyn Search, a 21-year-old senior from Battle Ground, Wash., who works as a custodian to help pay for college, said she was on the crew that found the cutout.”
… to help pay for college. Am I reading more into this than I should? Is the writer of this article making a covert statement about the Act Six students who have scholarships? Journalism is unbiased, right?

Thanks for the warning about the comments. I wish I had taken your advice.
Rev Johnny – I know… unless the President thought they were trying to recruit Obama – then I could see it – wait, no. He has a degree already, right?
And yeah, I missed the “help pay for college” comment.

My advice is pretty much always – don’t read the comments.
